UIL

The UIL (University Interscholastic League) is an opportunity for students to take what they have learned from the classroom and apply it in a competitive but friendly academic environment. The goals of the UIL are as follows:

  • bring excitement to learning

  • work with other students in a competitive atmosphere

  • achieve mastery of essential knowledge and skill

  • test students' skills and knowledge

  • experience the satisfaction of a successful and rewarding performance

  • achieve academic excellence and recognition

What are the contests that students can participate in?

Students have opportunities to participate in the following events:

  • Chess (2nd - 6th grade)

  • Creative Writing (2nd grade)

  • Dictionary Skills (5th - 6th grade)

  • Editorial Writing (6th grade)

  • Impromptu Speaking (6th grade)

  • Listening Skills (5th - 6th grade)

  • Maps, Graphs,  and Charts (5th - 6th grade)

  • Mathematics (6th grade)

  • Modern Oratory (6th grade)

  • Music Memory (2nd - 6th grade)

  • Number Sense (4th - 6th grade)

  • Oral Reading (4th - 6th grade)

  • Ready Writing (3rd - 6th grade)

  • Social Studies (5th - 6th grade)

  • Spelling (3rd - 6th grade)

  • Storytelling (2nd - 3rd grade)

Each grade level will be sending home UIL information and sign sheets in the Fall.  The meets will be held at La Grange Elementary starting at 4:30 pm. The dates and events are listed below:
