Beginner Band Parent Meeting -- Tuesday, August 24, 2010, 6:00 - 8:00PM at the La Grange High School Band Hall. A music retailer will be there to explain how to purchase the required instruments and supplies. Members of the Mighty Leopard Band will also be on hand to demonstrate some of the instruments. Please plan to be there. |

Summer Lessons and Band Camps
|

|
|
Once again, the La Grange ISD band program will be offering private lessons for band students in grades 6 through 12 during the month of June. These lessons will be held in the Middle School Band Hall on the four Mondays in June: June 7, 14, 21, and 28. The lessons will be taught by distinguished band directors from the area. Cost will be $20 per half-hour lesson.
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!
The La Grange ISD Band Booster club will rebate half of the cost of each lesson attended. So, each lesson ends up only costing $10! This is a great deal!
BUT WAIT!! THERE'S EVEN MORE!!
Many colleges and universities across Texas are offering camps for band students. On the La Grange ISD website, you can find a list of many of the camps available. Visit the websites of each of these camps and choose one that fits your and your child's needs. Band camp is a fun way to get more experience on your instrument while meeting lots of new people. (Best of all, parents, your child is out of the house for a week!) (Best of all, students, you're out of the house for a week!)

The La Grange ISD Band Booster Club helps with this activity as well. The Boosters have agreed to rebate $250 for each La Grange student who attends a band camp. So, your child can attend a prestigious Texas band camp for only a few hundred dollars. This is an incredible deal that cannot be missed! I urge you to take a look!

SmartMusic
|

This year, students at all levels of the La Grange ISD Band program will be getting assignments to complete using SmartMusic. SmartMusic is required in order to complete these assignments. Students will have access to computers with SmartMusic at school, but they will find it useful to have access to SmartMusic at home as well. Click the link below to learn how to get SmartMusic at home.You can get all of the features of SmartMusic for only $30 per year. We will be using SmartMusic at school during class and after school. This is a great investment to help your student have LOTS OF FUN practicing -- all for less than the cost of a video game! |

Metronomes and Tuner
|

Here are two metronomes and a tuner available on download.com. Each of the links takes you away from the La Grange ISD website. Make sure you have permission to do that. Before installing either of these programs, be sure you have your parent's (or computer owner's) permission to install software.To install, click the "Download Now" button near the top of each page. Save the installer to your default download folder (usually the desktop). Run the installer. The Windows Metronome is a zip file. Once downloaded, open the zip folder and run the installer. |
